Do you want to work with PET data analysis for molecular imaging and theranostics, supported by competent and friendly colleagues in an international environment? Do you want an employer that invests in sustainable employee engagement and offers secure, favorable working conditions? Welcome to apply for the position of Research Infrastructure Specialist at Uppsala University.

The Department of Surgical Sciences (IKV) at Uppsala University has approximately 160 employees and around 230 registered doctoral students, most of whom are clinically active physicians, nurses, and radiology nurses. Many of the department's employees have positions associated with roles at the Academic Hospital.

Our Operations
The Uppsala Centre for Molecular Imaging and Theranostics (UMIT) is a new research infrastructure for PET and theranostics funded jointly by Uppsala University and the Academic Hospital. UMIT will coordinate PET and theranostics research by managing applications for studies and providing support with administration, data analysis, and translation of new radiopharmaceuticals. At the departments of PET chemistry and research and nuclear medicine, both part of the Imaging and Functional Centre at the Academic Hospital, extensive clinical research and diagnostics are conducted with around 20 different tracers, and currently, there are 4 PET-CT, 1 PET-MR, 3 SPECT-CT, and one cardiac SPECT camera. An important goal is to further expand the clinical use of PET with specific markers, and a new cyclotron and new chemistry labs have been completed and are set to be operational by 2026. We also hope to install a total-body PET in the near future. The Theranostics Centre, which is also a collaboration between the Academic Hospital and Uppsala University, was established in 2025. Here, diagnostics and therapy will be offered and developed, including targeted cancer treatments. Our new state-of-the-art PET labs and the ability to label radioactive drugs for treatment will increase the number of industry-sponsored drug studies and expand opportunities for clinical research.
